Yellow Cab Pizza Brunei

Yellow Cab Pizza is an international pizza chain that has well over 100++ branches around the world.  To name a few; Philippines, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, China, USA and counting!  A common misconception of Yellow Cab Pizza is that it started in USA because of the infamous yellow-black taxis of the USA that we always see in the movies.  The irony is that it was only the beginning of 2017 that the first branch was opened in USA.

The Yellow Cab Pizza brand was founded in the Philippines back in 2001 and has became a very successful international franchise since then.  And today, Yellow Cab Pizza has opened its doors to us in Brunei!

Yellow Cab Pizza Brunei has opened its doors today!  (Although the door in the picture is closed, but trust me it has opened!)
When you think of Yellow-Black Taxis, you will automatically relate it to the Big Apple, New York City.
The Empire State Building, one of New York’s most recognizable high-rise building is painted on the wall next to the restaurant.

I love sprinkling chili flakes on my pizzas for the extra zing!
Brunei’s social media at work.
On the day that I was there, I was lucky that there were some free sampling of their signature pizzas.
Their extremely friendly staff was on-hand to show how one of their signature pizza, Dear Darla  specialty hand-rolled pizza is to be eaten.

Dear Darla is their specialty hand-rolled pizza.  It comes in a few different version of toppings, but all served with Alfalfa Sprouts and Arugula.  Each slice is to be rolled and eaten with the Alfalfa Sprouts and Arugula.

This is the Dear Darla signature hand-rolled pizza with the thin crust topped with ricotta cheese and roasted garlic, mozzarella and romano cheese.  Each slice is supposed to be rolled with some of the arugula and alfalfa sprouts that it is served with.  MY FAVOURITE!
STEP 1: Stack the Alfalfa Sprout and Arugula according to the amount you desire on your slice then dab some chili oil over it for the added zing flavour.
STEP 2:  Roll the pizza from end to tip, using your finger to keep the slice in place after each roll.
STEP 3:  Eat!  Enjoy!
This is the original Dear Darla pizza which comes with pepperoni, button mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, black olives and capers.  And of course the alfalfa sprouts and arugula for the rolls.

By the way, have you ever watched a 1994 movie called ‘The Little Rascals’?  It’s about a little boy whose name is Alfalfa and in that movie, he tries to win the heart of a girl named Darla by writing her letters, hence the name “Dear Darla …”

This is the Four Seasons pizza.  It has 4 in 1 pizza; New York Classic, #4 Cheese, Anchovy Lovers, Roasted Garlic and Shrimp.

The Calzone has ham and cheese fillings.  By folding the pizza dough in half and then sealed and baked, the end result is a crust that is crispy yet with insides juicy.
Twice Baked Potato Halves that is topped with cheese and bacon bits and served with sour cream.
Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta that is cooked with oriental sauce, shitake mushrooms and … roasted peanuts!  Yes, peanuts!  Curious on the flavour?  Try it!
Aglio Olio Paste; if the oriental Charlie Chan flavour is too heavy for you, then this would suit your taste buds.  Light and easy with garlic, olive oil, basil, sun-dried tomatoes and shrimp.

Hot Wings which has a crispy outer coating.
18 inches pizza, yo!  Large size of pizza ever! What do you think? Looks big or not?  Try to put next to your car’s 18″ sport’s rim?
Thanis was instantly attracted to the 18 inches …. naturally.  Hmm, maybe it doesn’t look so big with him holding it.
What about now?  Looks big to you now?  Even the girls are impressed with the 18 inches pizza.

A laydown of our orders that night. 6 of us almost couldn’t finish this, especially with the size of the 18 inches pizza.
Happy faces before digging into the food.
By the time I reached this table, they had almost finished their food!  Definitely happy and satisfied faces!
Bella ate so much delicious pizza she wanted to apply for a job there.

In my opinion, Dear Darla Hand-Rolled Pizza is my personal favourite.  The uniqueness of the pizza plus the taste of the pizza together with the rolled up alfalfa sprouts and arugula is something no other brands can offer.  Second comes the Charlie Chan Chicken pasta which is more of a local flavour and reminds me so much of Teriyaki sauce.  Totally love it.  The Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings was also nice.  Couldn’t get enough of those.  In fact, we tried to order another round of it but too bad the kitchen had already closed for that night.  Last of all, ordering the 18 inches pizza just totally makes sense, especially when your with your group of friends!

Not convinced by my opinions?  Here is  Thanis’ write-up for Yellow Cab Pizza Brunei.
