Pullman Miri Waterfront Buffet: Le Marché Buffet
My family and I, together with my two friends went to try Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel’s buffet last weekend. The buffet has a very special name to it: Le Marché. Le Marché is a French word (pronounced as “lay MAR-kay”) which simply means, The Market. True to its name, you can imagine all the different fresh raw food that are available for your choosing!
Ever wanted to be a chef but don’t have the skills with the wok? Ever wondered how certain ingredients, when combined, would taste like? The best part to this buffet is that you get to try out many different recipes of your own choice. Mix and match these raw ingredients to make your own recipe!
Le Marché: How Does It Work?
It’s very simple really! Step 1 – Grab a plate and pick the raw ingredients of your choice. Step 2 – Bring your plate to the chef and choose the cooking style of your choice. Here you will be given a number which you should bring with you to your table. Step 3 – Sit and wait for your new recipe food to be served to you at your table!
See! It’s that easy. Here’s the breakdown of the steps (complete with pictures):
My first stop was the raw meat section. I’m quite a meat eater!
This turned out to be my favourite among the raw meats; the smoked duck.
Then choose some vegetable for a balanced meal.
Gai Choy (Chinese Green Mustard)
Chai Sim (Chinese Flowering Cabbage)
Another variety of Gai Choy
And then there is the glorious seafood corner! In my opinion, these alone is already well worth the amount I pay for the buffet.
Beautiful Salmon up close!
Sea bass up close!
And for the kids, these balls will surely be their choice. My son had a lot of these.
To accompany the dishes, there are a few mains to choose from.
Flat Noodles (Kueh Tiaw)
Then spice up your dish by adding some spices!
There are also some cooked dishes in case you prefer steamed rice, fried rice or kampong fried rice with your dish.
Kampong Fried Rice
Fried Kueh Tiaw
Tropical Fruit Salad with Sultanas
Umai Midin with Belachan
Potato Salad with Aioli
Summer Tomato Salad with Shallot Vinaigrette
Tuna Salad with Lime Dressing
Thai Rice Noodle and Beef Salad
Chicken Chipolata and Sweet Corn Salad
6 different kinds of salad dressing of your choice.
Next to the grill, there are some ready grilled vegetables; grilled potatoes, grilled carrots and grilled pumpkin.
Once you have had enough, it’s time for desserts. There are also plenty of desserts to choose from.
Chocolate Mud Cake
Glutinous Rice with Spicy Desiccated Coconut
Chilled Longan with Almond Jelly
Green Bean Sago
Overall, this is a buffet I will surely be returning to. At RM68++ (kids 12 & below gets half price), I feel that it is really worth it for the choices that are available and the fact that the food is made to order according to your desire.
Where else do you get an unlimited buffet that allows you to take unlimited amount of raw ingredients to be combined together and then cooked on the spot according to the style that you prefer?
