Pondok Sari Wangi Sungkai Buffet 2014

When it comes to delicious local Asian food, my first choice would always be Pondok Sari Wangi, although technically they label themselves as Indonesian cuisine.  I am NOT an expert in food there I am not particular on how authentic a dish is to its country, instead, more on how tasty and essentially the satisfaction of the meal followed by the long loud burppppp!  After all, food is one of life’s enjoyment.

This Ramadhan, I had the chance to savour Pondok Sari Wangi’s Sungkai buffet again.  As usual, it was a full house, so please make sure prior reservations are made to avoid disappointments.

What was already a definite yummy buffet in previous years is now made even better with the introduction of various seafood in the buffet.  Imagine this, all the ‘ketam’ you can eat.  Fans of crabs will surely be wide-eyed and salivating, and it is proven that not only KFC can be ‘finger licking good’!

There are different dish selections each day of the week, therefore you would need to call up the restaurant to find out what is being served on that day!  This ensures that you will be delighted with the different dishes on each dine-in to Pondok Sari Wangi.  The pictures below were the dishes that was served that day.  Do have a read at food blogger Thanis Lim’s blog here (aka Cookie Monster) to see more dishes.

For us, a meal is not complete without the crabs, especially when the crab queen is amongst us!  In order to please the crab queen, 5 kilos of crabs cooked in 5 different styles was sacrificed.

All jokes aside, Pondok Sari Wangi remains my favourite restaurant and will always be my ‘go to’ place whenever I have guest from overseas.  All their dishes are prepared to perfection.  Having the pleasure of knowing the boss of Pondok Sari Wangi personally, I dare say that his taste for food is simply no-less than perfect.  If you have not been to Pondok Sari Wangi before, you don’t know what you are missing.

Pondok Sari Wangi’s Sungkai Buffet is priced at B$15.00 for adults and B$8.00 for child (aged 4-12 years old).  The Sungkai buffet is available in all three of its branch: Gadong (+673 244503), Citis Square (+673 2340608) and Sengkurong (+673 2661893).  Please remember to make prior reservations as its usually a full house for their buffet!
