Apart from Excapade’s Sungkai Buffet, there are only a few other buffets that I have faith enough to not disappoint. Cheezbox’s Sungkai Buffet is among the buffets that I try not to miss as well. Variety and consistency has always been the winning point throughout all these years.
Like previous years, the buffet spread is ‘spread’ into two sections: the lower floor which holds the appetizers and desserts, plus a variety of tempura and colourful sushi; and the upper floor which holds the motherload of the dishes ranging from the light and creamy of Mushroom Soup, all the way to the heavy Beef Rendang, Baked Lamb and many more.
THE LOWER FLOOR:
I’ve noticed that most people tend to go for the Upper Floor first, where all the main dishes are. The problem is, you will only be allowed to take the food a few minutes just before the breaking of fast. Once that happens, there will be a very long queue. Why not go to the lower floor first? Try some light appetizers… have some sushi….
THE UPPER FLOOR:
Where the mother load of the buffet is. Start your journey anti-clockwise, starting with the cold dish and making your way through the other heavy duty dishes guaranteed to knock you out even on your first round if you are not careful!
Be sure not to skip their desserts as they are all delicious. Especially the cakes and puddings. The desserts are available from the lower floor. You might want to get the desserts earlier as there tend to be another long queue once most people are done with their main dishes.
For B$26.90 for adults and B$19.90 for kids, we really made sure we ate to our stomach’s content. I went for no less than 5 rounds, trying all the different dishes that was offered. Have a look at some of our plates!
I must say my favourite among all the dishes there is the Salmon with Creamy Caviar Sauce; it’s just simply delicous. I’ve never had Salmon in that kind of sauce before. Other dishes that deserves special mention is the Fried Prawn with Cheese, Roasted Lamb with Mushroom Sauce, Baked Mussels with Garlic Sauce, Pizza and not to forget the Tom Yam.
Cheezbox has stayed true to its name, making every dish that is creamy and cheezily delicious. It will definitely be a buffet that will not disappoint. The question is not to ask if you will like it, rather, will you be able to handle all those delicious dishes?
